Home At Last!

On November 20th, 2022 Sadie was found wandering the streets in the cold. A lovable dog with a sweet disposition, she stole the hearts of Paws’ volunteers. Week after week, month after month, no inquiries came in for Sadie girl. We set her up with a professional trainer, captured her gorgeous self in countless photos, took her to some events for exposure, and still had no luck finding her family.

On February 4th, 2024, Sarah Etheridge messaged our Facebook page. Her and her family were looking at a Paws puppy online. Sarah’s husband, Joshua, continued looking through all available Paws pups and saw Sadie’s gorgeous face. He then noticed she had been with us for over a year. They knew they wanted to give her a loving home.

The evening of February 5th, 2024 they had such a perfect meet and greet. Their three children were not intimated by her tough appearance or her scary sounding play growls. They played rough tug of war with her just the way she likes it, but were so gentle when she wanted to show her affection.

Almost a week later and Sadie’s forever Mom said “she is perfect”. They lost their German Shepherd in October that they loved for 11 years. They were on the fence about getting another dog, however when Sadie’s new forever Dad saw her profile he “just melted”. Sadie has reportedly adjusted so well in her new home. She plays, she listens, and she hasn’t messed in the house. “You wouldn’t know that we haven’t had her for years.” - Sarah

Many adult rescue dogs are often overlooked and/or misunderstood. Sadie had never had a meet and greet up until her family adopted her, despite being such a beautiful, resilient, loving dog.

While many people often search for puppies to adopt, many times adult dogs can actually check so many boxes for a family! They are often already house trained, they can be significantly more calm than a puppy, they’re fully grown so you won’t be wondering how large they will get, and they have grown more into their personalities. Also, since adult dogs are often overlooked, you may be giving them a chance at love they might otherwise not find for a long long time.

Please consider those dogs that are often overlooked. They are all deserving of love.

Grateful to the Etheridge family for choosing to adopt AND for adopting a long-term Paws resident.

Sadie needs a nice comfy sofa to rest on after playing in the yard!
